PAULO GILBERTO CIMBALISTA DE ALENCAR,
Born in São José dos Campos, state of São Paulo, Brazil, on the 4th of June, 1957. Graduated in the School of Medicine in the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil, in 1980. Medical Resident in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in the Hospital de Clínicas in the same University in 1981/82. Fellow in Bone Tumor Surgery and Hip Surgery at Pavilhão Fernandinho Simonsen in Santa Casa de São Paulo, in 1983. Fellow in the London Hospital, U.K., under supervision of Mr. Michael Freeman, in 1984. Visiting surgeon of the Hip Centre in the Wrightington Hospital in Wigan, U.K. AO-ASIF fellowship in Ulm, Germany. Visiting surgeon of the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, NY. Frequent updating in Hip and Knee Surgery by visiting specialized hospitals in the USA, Canada and Europe. Active lecturer in meetings and author of scientific papers and chapters about hip and knee reconstructive surgery in specialized books.
